Sore Fingers Is Moving to a new Venue
19th Nov 2025
“When the sun shines down on the mountain,
e wild sheep are wandering all alone,
When the birds and the bees are a-humming,
Makes me think that springtime won't be very long”
- When The Springtime Comes Again, The Carter Family
April is the month that plays host to our SFSS Week event - fittingly held in spring, a season that traditionally symbolises renewal, growth, and fresh beginnings.🌻 With that in mind, we are extremely excited to announce some significant news that will affect the future of SFSS…drum roll, please!
After thirty years, SFSS is turning the page to a new chapter. We are delighted to announce that we are moving location!
While our previous location has been a cherished part of our story, we have simply outgrown it. Recent events made it clear that it’s time to move into a space that truly fits and reflects who we are today and settle somewhere with the facilities our community deserves.
About the Venue
We are still finalising details and tying up some loose ends which prevents us from naming our new location. However, what we can tell you is that it is located on the Surrey Hampshire Border, just 15 minutes off the M3. It’s highly accessible by train and plane - about an hour from London Waterloo, and 40 minutes from Heathrow Airport. ✈️🚆
The reception we are receiving is incredibly positive, and the faculty totally welcoming. They are as excited to have us as we are to be going there! We can't wait to get to know them better and cement what we’re sure will be a long-lasting relationship.
The school Is a historic building set amid beautiful greenery and comes with the benefits of:
● Much more space - with around 450 beds in total our new home has significantly more accommodation space. More single/twin rooms and smaller (max 4 bed) dormitories give better scope for privacy and more comfortable sharing.
● Plenty of room for camping – the new school boasts a huge field, perfect for tents and campervans although with the increased bedding space some may prefer to book a room instead!
● A more logical layout – Our new home engenders good access to the event facilities which are ranged around a courtyard, fostering community, pleasant accessible jam session spaces, and handy connections.
● Two purpose-built theatres – perfect for all manner of activities like scratchband concerts, showcases, tutor concerts, impromptu performances, electives and workshops.
● A large cafeteria – Plenty of space at mealtimes.
● Lawned garden areas for relaxing – lovely to gather, chat and have a cuppa if the weather permits.
A new era is beginning, and we couldn’t be more thrilled!
Confirmed tutors will be announced soon, so stay tuned. In the meantime, early bookings make all the difference, so don’t hesitate to send in your Booking Form stating the class you would like.
Best wishes,
John, Moira and the SFSS team x
