Sore Fingers Week, 2017

17th - 21st Apr 2017

This will be the 22nd Sore Fingers Week and, as usual, we have a great line up of tutors, from across the Atlantic and from the UK, to teach you how to create and develop the sounds of Bluegrass and Old Time Music.
In recent years, on the acoustic music scene, Bluegrass and Old Time sounds have found their way into a lots of home grown music. We now increasingly hear banjos and the characteristic upbeat mandolin rhythm styles in lots of folk and popular music. The teaching at Sore Fingers Week has become more and more relevant over time with the techniques taught applying to any musician irrespective of their usual style. If you've not tried it, perhaps it's time to come along!
So: what can one expect from a week at Kingham Hill School, the home of Sore Fingers Week?
A skeleton daily schedule can be downloaded to show roughly what you're likely to be up to over the five days. If you think it's just CLASSROOM LEARNING you would be mistaken. The "Sore Fingers Experience" goes far beyond that with many other activities keeping you busy and helping you integrate into this highly sociable and friendly scene.
A very popular activity is the structured "SCRATCH BAND" sessions superbly stage managed by a team of tutors who mentor bands through the challenges of playing ensemble.
We also run a series of totally unique TUTOR SHOWCASE concerts bringing together these award winning artists who rarely have an opportunity to play together. Some of our most treasured and memorable musical moments have come from the showcases.
ELECTIVE SESSIONS are available in things like: "Music Theory", "How to Make Your Band Work", "Stage Craft" and others which will be announced during the event.
Together with the open PICKING SESSIONS all over the campus and the general SOCIALISING in the bar, cafeteria and everywhere else, it becomes a very full week indeed.
Check out our tutors list for more details and download a booking form for all price details.

John, Moira and The Sorefingers Team look forward to seeing you there for another stunning event.
